The course aims to provide the student with a set of knowledge and methodologies to assess the need for innovation in a manufacturing company, identifying existing criticalities in the company's products and/or processes. Furthermore, the course also aims to provide students with the methodological tools to design an intervention of research and/or pre-competitive development aimed at improving the company's competitive position of the company, based on the general criteria of European national and regional policies supporting industrial research.

The course aims to offer a discussion of the economic theory of the enterprise, inter-organizational relations of various kinds, and network strategies of companies enterprises by combining theoretical rigor with practical applications and analysis of real cases. Furthermore, the course aims to provide knowledge for the analysis of technologies in the Open Innovation paradigm.

The Student at the end of the course will have knowledge about the fundamental issues concerning the service quality management, particularly as regards to the Customer Satisfaction (CS) assessing, the design of the CS questionnaire and the related effectiveness evaluation, the executing of the data collection and processing phases so as to assess opportunities for the service quality improvement.

Management engineers, in their activity, use the quantitative tools, decision supports and methodological rigour typical of engineering sciences, aiming at optimizing solutions. The statistical non-deterministic vision and method, when applied to managerial and organizational problems, enable the achievement of efficient and effective solutions, contribute to a better understanding of business phenomena, facilitate the identification and control of the most significant decisional variables, set the bases for the continuous improvement of business based on measurable parameters.

Students will gain insight into the contemporary challenges of healthcare operations. They will learn about designing healthcare processes, applying improvement methods, managing healthcare supply chains, quality management, and control in healthcare systems. The module provides methodologies to analyze and solve healthcare operations problems, allowing students to assess systems, processes, organizational units, and technologies. Students will develop judgment skills to evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of healthcare processes.

The course aims to provide the tools for designing, analyzing, and minimizing the environmental impact of the various stages of a product's life cycle. The overall objective is to increase the student's awareness of the effects that the decisions taken in the design phase can have in terms of environmental impact throughout the life cycle of a product. The course, therefore, aims to provide skills for the application of LCE techniques to implement economic/environmental analyses of specific products/processes.
